Moi to Remain at Nairobi Hospital
Retired President Daniel Arap Moi is still receiving medical care at Nairobi Hospital and will be discharged once doctors give him a clean bill of health.
On Monday, his press secretary Lee Njiru told The Star that Moi, who was readmitted at the hospital 20 days ago, had recovered but doctors want him to build up his energy before he is discharged.
95-year-old Moi has been at the hospital's VIP wing, a homely setup, since he was readmitted on November 9th, just two days after he had been discharged. He is under the watch of a team of medics led by his personal physician Dr. David Silverstein.
"Mzee is still in the hospital but fairing on well. We shall issue a statement on his condition on Wednesday. For now, we only follow the advice of the doctors," Njiru said on Monday.
Moi has spent most of his time at the facility in the past two months after he reportedly developed breathing problems. He was first taken to the hospital on October 12th to undergo what Njiru said was routine medical check-ups. President Kenyatta visited him at the hospital on November 15th, where they reportedly had a lengthy talk.
