Wedding Day Almost Turns Tragic as Limousine Ferrying Bride is Involved in Road Accident

John Wanjohi Dec 21, 2019

A wedding ceremony in Kirinyaga County was on Saturday delayed for hours after a limousine carrying the bride was involved in a road accident along Mwea-Embu road.

Newlyweds Lee Njiru and Maureen Wangithi had hired the luxury vehicle for a staggering KSh.200,000 but what was supposed to be one of their happiest days almost turned tragic.

The limousine was ferrying the bride to the wedding venue-Christians Worship International Ministry in Kiamutugu, Gichugu Constituency— from Ishiara in Embu at 10 am when another vehicle that was being steered by a 65-year-old woman hit them on the side.

To avoid what could have been a terrible accident, the driver of the limousine drove off the road crashing and wrecking the expensive vehicle in the process. All occupants in the vehicle, including the bride, escaped unscathed.

“We hired the limousine at Ksh.200,000 to transport the bride but right now she will be transported to the Christians Worship International Ministry in another vehicle, it is a big loss,” the transport manager said.

The damaged limousine was towed to Wang’uru Police Station as police launched investigations into the incident. Despite the three-hour delay, the wedding ceremony continued as planned with the couple exchanging marriage vows.
