Clerics in Ugly Fight for DP William Ruto’s KSh10 Million Donation

John Wanjohi Jan 03, 2020

Archbishop Patrick Lihanda of Pentecostal Assemblies of God claims that his life is in danger over KSh10 million donated to the church by Deputy President William Ruto last year.

Addressing the media, Archbishop Lihanda accused police in Hamisi, Vihiga County of being biased in the dispute pitting him against a group led by Reverend Nathan Ondego over the money.

However, Vihiga County Police Commander Hassan Barua denied claims of police complicity in the row between the clergymen terming them as unfounded. He added that the matter was already in court.

“If one party feels aggrieved by the conduct of the court, it should channel its complaint to the Judicial Service Commission,” said Barua.

Lihanda took issue with police after they allegedly failed to prosecute suspects arrested over the August 1st, 2019 attack on Nyang’ori Church Mission headquarters in Vihiga County.

Lihanda believes the attack was orchestrated by Reverend Ondego and claims that police were sitting on the evidence against 20 suspects arrested following the incident.

“These suspects recorded statements indicating a correlation with Rev Ondego, but what is strange is that no one is on trial,” said Lihanda.
