Raila Celebrates 75th Birthday

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday celebrated his 75th birthday with Kenyans taking to social media to send him messages using hash tag #HappyBirthdayBaba.

"On this day, I thank God for the gift of life thus far. Wishing greater things to our country and our people," Raila wrote on Twitter.

Odinga shared a photo of himself, his wife Ida and grandkids cutting a birthday cake that featured colors of the Kenyan flag on the side, his name and age.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho wrote: “To my Party leader and mentor Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, a happy birthday. May the Almighty God give you long life and wisdom to continue leading the democratization of our Nation.” 

"Wishing you a very Happy Birthday!" wrote media personality Tony Gachoka.

“Your Excellency Hon. Dr. Raila Amolo Odinga, you have been a role model and an example of selfless giving to this generation, and we are proud to hold you as someone worthy of emulation. On this day, I just want to say Thank You and Happy Birthday,” noted ODM Communications Director Philip Etale.

"Happy Birthday Baba Raila Odinga, may you live long to see the fruits of years of your toil and labour for this country," ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna tweeted.

"Dear H.E Raila Odinga. I’m humbled to call you my friend. Kenya can’t repay the sacrifices you’ve done for her. We are your foot soldiers and we’ll go where you send us. We are full of joy," city lawyer Donald Kipkorir noted.
