Miguna Miguna Sends a Message to Kenyans from Germany
Firebrand lawyer Miguna Miguna says he is still stuck in Germany after he was barred from traveling to Kenya on Tuesday.
In a message to Kenyans on Thursday, Miguna said he is healthy and fine and was waiting for the government of Kenya to obey court orders directing it not to interfere with his homecoming.
“For Patriots, Fellow Kenyans and Friends of Kenya asking how I am: I am alive, healthy and focused like a laser beam. I am unbowed. I am still in Berlin, Germany. I am waiting for Despot Uhuru Kenyatta and his rogue cabals to OBEY COURT ORDERS and allow me to enter my motherland,” Miguna tweeted.
Miguna, who was originally set to arrive in Kenya on Tuesday night, was barred from boarding a Nairobi-bound Lufthansa flight in Frankfurt before he was ejected from an Air France plane in Paris hours later. The two airlines cited a red alert issued by the government of Kenya as the reason for their actions.
On Wednesday, the government shifted the blame on Miguna, saying he had been listed as an “unruly passenger” after he caused drama at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) during his deportation in March 2018.
“Dr. Miguna was categorized as an unruly passenger in line with Annex 17 of ICAO standards and recommended practices that allow prohibition of unruly passengers,” said government spokesperson Col. Cyrus Oguna.
Oguna insisted that Miguna will not be allowed to enter the country unless he acquires a Kenyan passport at any Kenyan mission abroad.
