Kenyan Woman Attempts to Sell Her Blood to Raise School Fees for Daughter Who Scored 380 Marks

A Kenyan woman and her 14-year-old daughter on Monday camped at Siaya County Referral Hospital hoping to find a person they could sell their blood to in a bid to raise the girl’s school fees.

The girl, Agnes Akoth scored an impressive 380 marks out of the possible 500 in last year’s KCPE examination and earned a place at Ng’iya Girls’ High School, according to Citizen Digital. But her mother Rose Akinyi Odhiambo is unable to raise the KSh.28,000 required for her admission to the school.

The two hoped to find a patient they would donate blood to in exchange for cash but no offer was forthcoming with the hospital informing them that blood could not be donated for a fee.

Speaking to the media, Akinyi said she had visited numerous government offices since the results for the KCPE examination were announced but did not get any assistance. Akoth, who sat her KCPE exams at Liganwa primary school in Alego, now fears she will not be able to continue with her education if they fail to raise the amount needed.
