Moi Dead: President Uhuru Kenyatta Declares Period of National Mourning, Orders Flags Flown at Half-Mast
Following the death of former President Daniel arap Moi, President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced that the nation will observe a period of national mourning from today, Tuesday, February 3rd until the day late Mzee Moi’s funeral.
In a presidential proclamation issued shortly after the news of Moi’s death, President Kenyatta also announced that Mzee Moi will be accorded a State Funeral, “with all appropriate Civilian and Full Military Honours being rendered and observed.”
President Kenyatta also directed that as an expression of public sorrow the flag of the Republic of Kenya be flown at half-mast at State House, State Lodges, military bases, foreign missions abroad, and other public buildings from the dawn of February 4th, 2020 until sunset on the day of burial.
