Kalonzo, Machakos Governor Mutua Bury the Hatchet
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua have agreed to put aside their differences and work together.
The two leaders buried the hatchet on Tuesday at the burial of the late businessman and former Kanu official John Mulwa in Machakos, where they pledged to collaborate in developing the Ukambani region.
In a rare show of unity, Kalonzo and Mutua shook hands and hugged each other as a sign of the end of their political rivalry. The two claimed that propagandists were behind their differences as they vowed to ensure that nothing separates them again.
“I respect Kalonzo Musyoka. We have disagreed ideologically. As the Kamba Nation, we have to examine what the BBI has for the Ukambani region, this can only be realized when the Kamba nation is united.”
“We shall talk about politics in the future after addressing the needs of our people,” Mutua said.
Mutua had in the past asked Kalonzo to retire from politics saying that his time was up as he declared himself the region’s kingpin and announced his interest in running for president in 2022.
On his part, Kalonzo said: "I believe that Ukambani will henceforth speak with one voice."
Kalonzo further hailed the new unity pact with Mutua saying it will bolster his chances of succeeding President Uhuru in 2022.
