DP Ruto Hits Back at Raila for Insulting Hustlers

John Wanjohi Feb 29, 2020

Deputy President William Ruto hit back at ODM leader Raila Odinga over his tweet about ‘hustling.’

Odinga, through Twitter on Thursday, noted that the looting of public resources in Kenya was now being referred to as hustling while the dismissal of corrupt and incompetent government officials is being called “targeting our people.”

“The theft of public resources is now called hustling. The sacking of corrupt and incompetent individuals is now called targeting our people. Changing this pattern of events is not going to be easy. But it must and has to be done or we will have no nation to save,” Raila wrote.

Odinga’s message appeared to be directed to DP Ruto, who has branded himself as a ‘hustler.’

Responding to Odinga’s post via Twitter on Friday night, DP Ruto slammed the ODM leader, accusing him of looking down on hustlers because he is the son of a Vice President.

“Tinga, the privilege being VP's son is no license for you to insult hustlers. Kenyans hustling as bodabodas, hawkers, traders, small SME's, are NOT thieves but decent hard-working citizens deserving RESPECT,” Ruto tweeted.

He added: “Ama mtoto wa maskini akipata ameiba, lakini wa tajiri akiiba ni biashara.”
