Detectives Raid Goldenscape Offices in Nairobi, Seize 10 Computers

John Wanjohi Mar 13, 2020

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday raided the offices of Goldenscape Agribusiness Investment in Nairobi’s Karen area.

Five employees found in the offices during the raid were arrested and taken to DCI headquarters for questioning over alleged fraud.

During the operation, sleuths seized 10 desktop computers and several documents for examination in the ongoing investigations against the company and its officials.

Detectives believe the computers and the documents contain crucial information that will help strengthen their case against Goldenscape CEO Peter Wangai, who is accused of conning Kenyan investors out of billions of shillings.

Wangai went into hiding on March 2nd, 2020, after learning that detectives were after him following numerous complaints filed against him. He shut down his offices in Nairobi CBD and Lower Kabete before disappearing.

Over 80 people accusing Wangai of defrauding them have already recorded statements with the DCI’s financial crimes investigation unit.

Wangai, through his company, lured people into investing in greenhouses with a promise of earning huge profits. In one of its investment packages, Goldenscape was promising investors annual returns of Sh550,000 for an investment of Sh320,000.

The company has failed to pay its investors since November 2019 despite numerous assurances.
