Britain’s Prince Charles, the Heir of the Throne, Diagnosed with Coronavirus

Britain’s Prince Charles has tested positive for coronavirus, becoming the first member of the Royal family to contract the deadly illness.

In a statement on Tuesday, Clarence House said the 71-year-old heir of the throne was diagnosed with COVID-19 after displaying "mild symptoms" on Sunday.

"The Prince of Wales has tested positive for coronavirus. He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual,” the statement read.

Prince Charles's wife, Duchess of Cornwall, tested negative for the illness but both have decided to self-isolate. "The Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus. In accordance with government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland.”

"It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks."

Prince Charles, who is the Queen’s son, is first in line to the British throne.
