7 African Countries with Zero Covid-19 Cases

The coronavirus disease, which originated in China’s Wuhan city late last year, has spread to 200 countries and territories around the world, according to Worldometer.

As of Tuesday, March 31st, the virus had infected 801,000 people globally and killed 38,700 others.

In Africa, 47 out of 54 countries have confirmed cases of the disease with the total number of infections on the continent currently standing at 5,368, 175 deaths and 335 recoveries.

Seven African countries including Siera Leone, Sao Tome and Principe, Malawi, Comoros, Lesotho, Burundi, and South Sudan are yet to record any cases of the virus.

South Africa has the highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases on the continent with 1,326 followed by Egypt (656), Algeria (584), Morocco (574), Tunisia (362) and Burkina Faso (246).

In East Africa, Rwanda leads with 70 cases, Kenya is second (50), followed by Uganda (44) and Tanzania (19).

Globally, the US has the highest number of infections with 164,359, followed by Italy (101,739), Spain (94,417), China (81,518) and Germany (67,051). In terms of fatalities, Italy leads with 11,591, followed by Spain (8,189), China (3,305), the US (3,173) and France (3,024).
