Ruto Denies Working on His Cabbage Farm as Uhuru Fights Covid-19

John Wanjohi Apr 04, 2020

Deputy President William Ruto has refuted claims that he has been busy tending to cabbages at his farm in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County.

Ruto, through Twitter on Saturday, shared a photo of his expansive cabbage farm and clarified that he has not been there. Ruto instead said he is busy helping President Uhuru fight the coronavirus pandemic.

“H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, our teams and I are working on practical strategies to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. All options are on our cards. There should be no panic, we will pull through. Let us comply with advisories as reviewed regularly,” wrote Ruto.

He added: “So, I am not tending my Sugoi cabbages shown in the photo below. Ignore the pictures circulating elsewhere.”

His tweet comes a day after a photo showing a person who looks like DP Ruto tending to cabbages in a farm went viral on social media, eliciting mixed reactions.

Some Kenyans online said this was the reason why DP Ruto has been conspicuously missing since Kenya recorded its first Covid-19 case last month.

Kenya has so far recorded 126 infections, four deaths, and four recoveries.
