Declare Your Coronavirus Statuses, Raila Tells MPs
ODM leader Raila Odinga has urged MPs to declare their coronavirus results, saying contracting the disease is not a crime.
Odinga, in an interview with Radio Citizen on Friday, said revealing their statuses will help tame the further spread of the highly contagious illness.
“Having the disease of corona is not criminal because you did not choose to be infected. Let no one shy away. If I am infected, I will say and I isolate myself,” Raila stated.
Odinga was speaking in reference to the recent reports claiming that at least 17 Kenyans MPs had tested positive for the respiratory disease.
Odinga, who on Thursday donated foodstuff worth Sh15 million to vulnerable people in Nairobi, has urged leaders and Kenyans to unite in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, saying this is not the right time for politics.
“The money that you were taking in church, now take it to the people. Nobody has money but we need to help each other not only doing politics of back and forth,” he said.
On the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), Odinga said ‘reggae’ will continue once the coronavirus disease is contained.
“When coronavirus is contained, reggae will continue. This disease has cut our lives short but we are planning. Those who were dealing with BBI are still working and are about to finish,” he added.
