Uproar as Chief is Snapped Pouring Hot Liquid on Kenyan Granny’s Face

John Wanjohi Apr 12, 2020

Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ) has opened a probe into claims that a chief poured hot liquid on a granny's face in Eldoret.

This comes after a photo showing the administration officer pouring what is believed to be illicit liquor, locally known as chang’aa, on the elderly Kenyan woman went viral on social media.

CAJ Chairperson Florence Kajuju says officers have been dispatched to the area to investigate the incident, saying action will be taken against the chief if the claims are found to be true.

“We will take necessary action against the chief if it is true he did that,” Kajuju said on Sunday.

The incident happened in Turbo Constituency in Uasin Gishu County, according to reports. In the image, the chief is seen pouring a light-brownish liquid on the woman seated on a wooden bench.

Kenyans online are calling for the arrest and prosecution of the chief for taking the law into his own hands.

Deported lawyer Miguna Miguna said: “HUMAN. SICKENING. Criminal. Immoral. Completely disgusting. Patriots: We must defeat and remove these wild animals from their positions of power, privilege and abuse. We condemn – UNRESERVEDLY!”

Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Nelson Havi tweeted: “Don’t worry, soon enough the people will get tired of this nonsense and renegotiate the social contract. All they need is more of this oppression for them to reach their tare weight. Let the oppressor continue loading the weight.”

Moja Benjamin: “Whatever the brew was (whether alcoholic or none), it is barbaric! Can we possibly get this hooligan apprehended asap? I hope the person who took the shot can state the location. Huu mchezo wa polisi lazima ukome hata kabla ya Corona.”

Ferdinand Omondi noted: “Imagine how much wrong goes on in the villages without accountability.”

Abdinassir Ahmed said: “Effect of recruiting fools based on the number of teeth.”
