Kenya Records 12 New Covid-19 Infections as Recoveries Rise to 144
12 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Kenya, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 396.
The 12 cases were recorded in the counties of Nairobi (3), Mombasa (7), Kitui (1), and Wajir (1), according to Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman.
The three cases in Nairobi are from Eastleigh, Fedha, and Kileleshwa estates while in Mombasa, the cases are spread out across Old Town, Bondeni, Bomani, and Kidunguni.
Speaking during a media briefing on Thursday, April 30th, Dr. Aman indicated that the new cases were detected from 777 samples tested in the last 24 hours across 14 counties.
Out of the 12 cases, seven were picked by the Health Ministry’s surveillance team and five are from various quarantine facilities.
Dr. Aman also announced that 15 additional Covid-19 patients have been discharged from various facilities after recovering from the disease. This raises the tally of recoveries in the country to 144.
At the same time, he said two more patients have died from the virus, bringing the death toll from the bug to 17.
