Police in Kiambu are holding a middle-aged Kenyan man who was arrested after engaging officers in a shoot-out lasting two hours.

The man, whose identity is yet to be revealed, is said to have fired at police officers who went to his home along Kiambu Road after receiving reports that he was hosting a house party, according to Citizen Digital.

After learning of the police’s intention to arrest him for hosting the party, the rowdy man began shooting randomly at the officers from the window of his house at Coral Bell apartments in Thindigua.

CCTV footage shows tenants at the residential building watching from their balconies as the late-night drama unfolds.

Police went to the apartment after receiving a tip-off from a member of the public about the unbridled house party.

The rowdy man is said to have fired at the officers nearly 20 times before he was neutralized and arrested.

As part of the measures to contain the spread of Covid-19, the government banned all social gatherings including parties, and ordered the closure of bars and nightclubs countrywide.

As of Sunday, May 10th, there were 672 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Kenya, 30 deaths and 239 recoveries.
