MP Moses Kuria’s Property to be Auctioned over Sh7.2 Million Rent Arrears

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is at risk of losing his property to auctioneers over rent arrears amounting to Sh7.25 million.

This comes after law firm Mputhia Advocates in a demand l etter dated June 2nd sanctioned the sale of a property belonging to Kuria in a bid to recover the rent arrears dating back to January 2018.

Keysian Auctioneers has been contracted to sell the property located at Jambo Village Grevilla Groove, Westlands, Nairobi.

“Hon Moses Kiarie Kuria is in arrears amounting to Ksh7,250,0000 as per today (June 2), being arrears for 29 months from the period commencing January 2018. Kindly proceed with speed to recover all rent arrears plus your charges from the tenant,” the letter by Mputhia Advocates reads in part.

The law firm, acting on behalf of Kuria’s landlord Joseph Ndigari and Caroline Rael, further asked the auctioneer to make the sale in line with the Distress for Rent Act and Chapter 293 of the constitution.

“Our client undertakes to indemnify you against a liability that this instruction may cause to yourself as long as the execution is done in strict compliance with Distress Act,” the letter adds.
