Kirinyaga MCA Shaves Head, Beard to Celebrate Governor Waiguru’s Impeachment

A Kirinyaga MCA has shaved his head and beard as a way of celebrating the fall of Governor Anne Waiguru.

Following the impeachment of Waiguru on Tuesday, Wamumu ward MCA John Kanga called a barber to trim his hair as his colleagues watched and cheered him on.

Speaking to reporters, Kanga said the shaving was symbolic and an indication of the end of Waiguru’s era.

He further likened the trimming of his hair to a cleansing ritual aimed at detaching himself from the ills associated with Waiguru.

“I have decided to shave all my hair today, everything including my beard because today we have finally impeached Waiguru... I had sworn that I would not shave at all until we finished this job of sending Governor Waiguru home,” said Kanga.

Waiguru was impeached following a chaotic session held at the Kirinyaga County Assembly chambers. 23 out of 33 MCAs voted in favor of the impeachment motion tabled by Mutira Ward MCA David Kinyua, four abstained while six were absent.

Waiguru, whose fate now lies with the Senate, is accused of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
