Nairobi Court Denies Bail to German Man Accused of Sodomizing Underage Kenyan Boys
A 71-year-old German national accused of sodomizing underage Kenyan boys has been denied bail by a Nairobi court.
Thomas Scheller who was charged with the offenses of human trafficking, defilement, and making pornographic content using minors will remain behind bars until his trial is concluded.
Senior Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe on Monday dismissed the defense team’s plea for bail, saying that witnesses are minors and must be allowed to testify first.
Scheller is accused of committing the aforementioned offenses in Kisumu and Kwale counties on diverse dates between March and April 2020.
The court was told that between March and April 2020 at Nyalenda in Kisumu Central, the accused defiled a 13-year-old boy. It is alleged that he recruited, transported, and harbored the boy for purposes of exploitation.
He also faced two counts of showing a pornographic video to young boys and three counts of defiling three minors, including a 10-year-old boy, by sodomizing them. He was also charged with being in Kenya illegally.
Scheller, who pleaded not guilty saying he is being framed, will be detained at Kilimani Police Station ahead of July 21st when the trial will begin. Police arrested Scheller on May 5th outside the German Embassy in Nairobi after weeks of trailing him.
