A new opinion poll has ranked Deputy President William Ruto as the most popular presidential aspirant ahead of the 2022 election.

The study published on Wednesday by Intel Research Solutions shows that DP Ruto enjoys 30 percent support ahead of ODM leader Raila Odinga (17 percent) and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua with an 8 percent rating.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi is fourth with 7 percent followed by Senator Gideon Moi (6 percent), Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka (6 percent), Governor Hassan Joho (5 percent), CS Fred Matiangi (3 percent), Governor Kivutha Kibwana (2 percent) and Governor Wycliffe Oparanya (2 percent).

Dr. Mutua was voted the best-performing governor at 27 percent closely followed by Joho (21 percent) and Oparanya with 13 percent.

Governors James Ongwae (Kisii), Anyang Nyongo (Kisumu), and Paul Chepkwony (Kericho) were ranked the worst-performing with a 1 percent approval rating each.

The poll further shows 50 percent of the current crop of leaders will not be re-elected in 2022.

The study placed the popularity of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) spearheaded by President Kenyatta and Odinga at 47 percent.

The survey in which 4,224 respondents were interviewed between July 10th and 15th reported a 95 percent accuracy with a +/-2 margin error.
