Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna Tests Positive for Covid-19
Government Spokesperson Col. Cyrus Oguna has been diagnosed with Covid-19.
Oguna indicated that he developed mild Covid-19 symptoms after returning from an assignment outside Nairobi and after taking a test, he received a positive result.
Oguna said he is presently undergoing medical care at an isolation facility and is responding positively to treatment.
“Recently, having come from an assignment out of town, I developed mild coronavirus related symptoms and got tested. The results came back positive for Coronavirus and I am now receiving medical care and responding well to treatment at an isolation and treatment facility,” said Oguna in a statement on Friday.
He added: “Contact tracing is on-going and my family is ok. I urge all Kenyans to take this disease seriously and take all the necessary precautions to avoid getting infected.”
Oguna had early this week dismissed reports that he was admitted at a Nairobi hospital with Covid-19.
"We have noted reports on social media purporting that I have been admitted to the hospital. I wish to clarify that I am well and just got back from an assignment out of town,” he tweeted.
He has been present in nearly all Covid-19 daily briefings by the Health Ministry since the disease broke out in the country on March 12th.
