Man Arrested for Manufacturing and Selling Counterfeit Sex Pills in Nairobi
Police in Nairobi are holding a 47-year-old man accused of manufacturing and selling counterfeit drugs.
The suspect identified as Peter Cummings Thatia was arrested on Friday following a tip-off from members of the public.
He was nabbed in Hurlingham, Nairobi County during an operation carried out by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in collaboration with officers from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
Thatia is alleged to have been manufacturing and selling counterfeit Viagra to unsuspecting Kenyans in Hurlingham—a high-end neighborhood within Nairobi.
Counterfeit ViagraPro capsules, two polythene bags containing a white powdery substance, a capsule filler machine, and advertising fliers were seized from the suspect during the arrest.
A vehicle he was driving, a Nissan Note bearing registration number KCK 442A, was also impounded by detectives.
The suspect will be arraigned next week to face charges of unlawfully manufacturing and selling counterfeit medicines contrary to The Anti-Counterfeit Act No. 13 of 2008.
