Martha Karua Accuses Uhuru of Running a Collapsed Government

John Wanjohi Aug 10, 2020

Narc-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua claims President Kenyatta is presiding over a collapsed government.

Karua accused Uhuru’s administration of killing the economy, overtaxing Kenyans, and leaving them to suffer on their own during the Covid-19 crisis.

She called for an audit of all the billions the government has received from donors and lenders to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We demand full disclosure, transparency, and accountability for all COVID-19 funds, resources, and equipment from all sources including loans, grants, donations, and in-kind support both locally and internationally,” said Karua while addressing journalists at Nark-Kenya party headquarters in Nairobi on Monday.

She added: “For all practical purposes, this government has collapsed. The only things that seem to be functioning in this government are mis-procurement, taxation, and political patronage. Kenyans deserve better.”

At the same time, Karua questioned the allocation of billions of shillings towards the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), saying the money should be diverted to the health sector to address the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Billions more have been spent on building bridges here there are no rivers, in essence, a breaking bridges initiative. We can no longer accept to tie the destiny of tens of millions of Kenyans to the short term and selfish desires of a heartless leadership," she remarked.
