I Regret Voting for Uhuru Kenyatta, MP Oscar Sudi Says
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi says he regrets voting for President Kenyatta, claiming he did not know his true colors.
Sudi through a post on his Twitter account on Monday accused Deputy President William Ruto of misleading him and others into believing that Uhuru was his true friend.
“I regret voting Uhuru Kenyatta. I didn’t know his true colors. But I blame William Ruto because he convinced some of us that Uhuru was his true friend. Anyway, May God protects Kenyans,” Sudi wrote.
Sudi's tweet was in reference to the dramatic arrest of three Senators; Cleopas Malala (Kakamega), Christopher Langat (Bomet), and Steve Lelegwe (Samburu), on Monday.
The three were apprehended under unclear circumstances with some of their colleagues linking the arrests to their stand on the contentious county revenue sharing formula.
Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen claimed the arrest was a scheme to prevent them from participating and voting in the revenue sharing debate that had been scheduled for Monday morning.
After failing to reach consensus for the ninth time, the Senate on Monday agreed to form a 12-member committee to look into the matter. The committee will be co-chaired by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and his Nairobi counterpart Johnson Sakaja.
The government through Senate Majority Whip Irungu Kang'ata was pushing for a population-driven formula but it failed to get enough support with some Senators advocating for a win-win formula.
