Uhuru Kicked DP Ruto Out of Mombasa Residence, Senator Murkomen Says

John Wanjohi Sep 03, 2020

Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has slammed President Kenyatta, accusing him of persecuting Deputy President William Ruto and his allies.

Murkomen, who spoke during an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday night, said Uhuru became a different person after his handshake with ODM leader Raila Odinga in 2018.

He claimed that Uhuru has since been unfairly treating Ruto including evicting him from his Mombasa residence, arbitrarily arresting his associates and failing to invite him to important State function and meetings.

“On this day three years ago, I was with Uhuru Kenyatta in a chopper and it was on the day the Presidential election was nullified, William Ruto was in another chopper but we all flew to Nakuru and Narok to assure Kenyans that we would abide by the Supreme Court’s decision.”

"I was wondering to myself what happened to that Uhuru that today, Uhuru Kenyatta chased his deputy out of his Mombasa house. The President is arresting anyone associated with William Ruto," said Murkomen.

Uhuru would not have become the country’s fourth president if it had not been for Ruto’s support, according to Murkomen.

"It looks like President Uhuru Kenyatta has done what we call the kicking the ladder concept where once you climb up, you throw away the ladder."

"It is very sad and I cannot recognize this Uhuru Kenyatta in how he is treating the Deputy President, without whom, Uhuru would be nothing in this country, he would not even be an Opposition Leader."

“He hasn’t been inviting him to very important meetings nor has he been giving him any task. Let us stop trying to hide behind diplomacy, the fact is that the President is persecuting his deputy,” Murkomen asserted.
