Police in the US are holding a 35-year-old Ghanaian pastor for fatally shooting his wife in Orlando, Florida.

Sylvester Ofori is said to have shot dead his 27-year-old wife, Barbra Tommey outside her workplace at the Navy Federal Credit Union, Orlando branch on Tuesday, September 8th, according to a police report.

According to Wftv.com, Barbra was shot in the morning of September 8th but it was not established whether she was entering or leaving her workplace. When officers arrived, they found Barbra suffering from several gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

“You can tell that she is trying to get inside. Unfortunately, he shoots her outside of the establishment,” a police spokesman said.

Ofori was arrested at the couple’s home following the shooting incident that was captured on security footage. A search warrant was issued for the apartment where the pastor was living. The motive of the shooting remains unclear.

Ofori, who is currently being held at the Orange County Jail without bond, has been charged with first-degree murder.

The couple had been going through a divorce and had been separated for about three months, a detective told reporters.
