Section of Kikuyu Elders Disown Group that Visited Raila’s Home
A section of Kikuyu elders has disowned a group of elders that visited ODM leader Raila Odinga’s Bondo home last week.
Speaking on Sunday, the elders who are under “Kiama kia Ma” stated that the council was not aware of the delegation’s visit to Odinga’s home, adding that President Kenyatta did not send them.
They further accused the group that visited Odinga of advancing personal interests and trying to auction the Mt Kenya region to the highest bidder ahead of the next election.
Odinga, who hosted the delegation at his rural home on October 10th, clarified that the visit had nothing to do with 2022 succession politics.
He said the meeting aimed at cementing the relationship between Kikuyu and Luo communities and urged other communities should come on board. He also trashed claims that the elders endorsed his 2022 presidential bid.
“All the visitors who came to my home only came to promote peace not just between the Luos and Kikuyus but for all tribes for the benefit of building our nation,” said Odinga.
“We did not have any talks centered on politics, those who were here came as friends and spoke as friends too.”
