Pregnant Kenyan Woman and Her 6 Kids Live Inside Tree Stump for Months [PHOTOS]
Kenyans were taken aback after photos of an expectant woman who has been living inside a tree stump together with her six kids emerged on social media.
The family has been living inside a hollow fig tree in a forest in Voi, Taita Taveta county for several months after they were kicked out of their home by their in-laws.
The middle-aged woman identified as Juliet Samba said she could not find shelter and was forced to look for a place in the forest. She says the hollow tree trump provided her and her children enough space to crawl and snugly fit in.
“We decided to start here, at the very bottom, people begin from the bottom and then they go up,” Samba told Citizen TV.
The family has been living in the trump for months without anyone from the neighboring villages finding out.
Samba is sevens month pregnant and is yet to visit a hospital for a check-up. She fears she will not get any help when she goes into labor as there is no health facility nearby.
On Thursday, some residents of Kirutai village visited the woman with some foodstuffs after they learned the family has been living there for months. They wondered how the family survived there without a dependable water source or food.
