Lawyer Among Three Suspects Arrested as DCI Detectives Bust Online Car Dealer Syndicate

John Wanjohi Nov 04, 2020

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three people in connection with online fraud involving cars.

The three suspects were identified as Moses Owino Angelo (a lawyer), George Tsuma, and Charles Kipsang Koech, alias Charles Brian Koech alias Ibrahim Merrali.

The DCI said the three are members of an online car dealer syndicate that has conned unsuspecting car buyers of millions of shillings.

Police launched a search for the suspects following complaints filed at DCI Kasarani by two victims who were swindled after making payments for vehicles advertised on the online market place www.jiji.co.ke.

The first victim said he was led to a car yard on Ngong Road to view and buy a Toyota Probox but after making full payment, he was kidnapped and dumped in Nairobi CBD.

“Another buyer paid a deposit through Mpesa for a Land Rover. The vehicle was never delivered,” the DCI said.

Angelo and Tsuma were nabbed in Mombasa on Tuesday night while Kipsang was arrested in Naivasha. Investigations revealed that Charles Kipsang is the leader of the racket.

“We appeal to members of the public who may have fallen victim of the syndicate to report to DCI Kasarani for further police action,” added the DCI.
