Celebrated American RnB singer, songwriter, and actress, Ashanti is currently on a vacation in Kenya.

Ashanti, whose full name is Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi on Monday.

Reports indicate the Grammy award winner is staying at the lavish Hemingways Nairobi, a five-star hotel located in Karen.

The hotel facility boasts 45 suites with walk-in dressing rooms and a terrace offering magnificent views of the Ngong Hills.

Ashanti took to Instagram to share videos and photos of her experience in Kenya with a caption: “the mother land.”

In another clip, she is heard saying she is not getting out of the car after seeing buffalo at the Nairobi National Park.

“That’s close, I am definitely not getting out,” she says.

She is being accompanied by New York City-based content creator Jay Richardson, alias LiveRichMedia who declared on his own Instagram, "I only like to travel with independent women.".

It is not clear how long the 39-year-old superstar will be in the country.

Ashanti’s visit comes barely a week after the US through the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warned American citizens against traveling to Kenya due to the high risk of contracting Covid-19.

CDC placed Kenya under Level 4 Alert, meaning there is a very high level of Covid-19 and all non-essential travel should be avoided.

“Travel may increase your chance of getting and spreading Covid-19,” the CDC said on its website.

“During travel, wear a mask, stay at least six feet from people who are not traveling with you, wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer, and watch your health for signs of illness.”
