Miguna Miguna Speaks After Thirdway Alliance Endorses His Bid for Nairobi Governor Seat

John Wanjohi Dec 29, 2020

Fiery Kenyan-Canadian attorney Miguna Miguna has reacted after the Thirdway Alliance party granted him a ticket to run for the Nairobi governor’s seat.

Miguna, who was deported to Canada in 2018, thanked the party and other like-minded groups for supporting his bid for the top position that fell vacant following the impeachment of Mike Sonko.

He further declared that he is ready to liberate the Kenyan capital from what he termed as “cartels and tyrants” and make it a first-class city.

“…We need to work together in unity as patriots…to liberate Nairobi from cartels and tyrants, let’s mobilise and organise like no other time. The time is now Nairobi must be liberated Viva.”

“The cartels and their surrogates are trembling already, but the majestic people of Nairobi are happy and ready with their voters' cards. We are going to transform Nairobi into a first-class county and city. Viva!” said Miguna.

On Monday, Thirdway Alliance submitted Miguna’s name to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for clearance.

If he is cleared, Miguna will fly the party’s flag in the Nairobi gubernatorial by-election slated for February 18th.

The party’s National Chairperson Miruru Waweru said Miguna’s candidature is a “chance to correct one of the greatest political mistakes of our generation.”

“As is his trademark, Dr. Miguna’s candidature is not separate from the virtues that he has fought for and which remain the defining hallmark of his public and private life,” he said in a statement.

“It is time to drain this swamp of bad leadership and dismantle this rogue cartel hemorrhaging Nairobi.”

The party also presented a power of attorney authorization to IEBC to act on Miguna’s behalf.
