Nairobi-Based Policeman Arrested After Fatally Shooting Civilian Friend 10 Times
A police officer based in Nairobi has been arrested after he allegedly shot and killed his friend under unclear circumstances.
Edgar Mokamba, a police constable at Nyari Police Patrol Base in Gigiri, Nairobi is said to have fired at his friend 10 times, killing him on the spot.
The officer was armed with an AK47 rifle and had been deployed as a station guard, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Police said the deceased had visited Mokamba at the patrol base and the two decided to enjoy miraa together.
“…. He was joined by his regular friend who frequents the patrol base located in Nairobi’s Westlands area,” the DCI said.
Shots were heard a few hours later prompting an officer-in-charge to rush to the scene where the lifeless body of the victim was found at the driver’s seat of his Toyota Probox.
“The officer, who had been socially chewing miraa with the deceased the whole time, was disarmed and arrested, having sprayed 10 rounds of ammunition in the blast,” the DCI added.
Investigations are underway to establish the motive behind the killing.
