John Wanjohi Dec 30, 2020

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s party has unveiled its candidate for the upcoming Nairobi gubernatorial by-election.

The People's Empowerment Party picked Philip Kisia as its flagbearer in the race, while Caroline Ndung'u will be his running mate.

Kisia previously served as Nairobi Town Clerk, while Caroline is the marketing director of ABSA Bank (formerly Barclays Bank).

“Nairobi will have a tried and tested team to offer strategic leadership and Innovation to make the leading city in the sun achieve its lost glory and become a logistics, healthcare, financial, aviation and services hub within East Africa,” Kuria wrote on Facebook.

“Some things you can buy from the Supermarket. Not competence. Not experience. Not Meritocracy.”

Following the impeachment of Mike Sonko earlier this month, Nairobi voters will return to the ballot on February 18th, 2021 to elect their new Governor.

The People’s Empowerment Party defeated the ruling Jubilee party to win the December 15th Gaturi Ward by-election in Murang'a County.

Esther Mwihaki Kamau was declared the winner of the mini-election after garnering 3,974 votes ahead of Rosemary Wakuthie of Jubilee who got 3,423 votes.
