ANC Leaders Reveal Plot to Impeach Deputy President William Ruto

John Wanjohi Jan 12, 2021

Amani National Congress (ANC) party has revealed plans to move a motion of impeachment against Deputy President William Ruto.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, ANC leaders led by deputy leader Ayub Savula accused Ruto of sabotaging President Kenyatta’s agenda by inciting the public against the same government he serves in.

“We have taken the lead in preparing a motion of impeachment to protect Kenyans against violence implosion being clandestinely fermented by Ruto, a rich and powerful man in the government pretending to be poor,” Savula stated.

The leaders further described Ruto as a threat to the stability of the nation, accusing him of covertly dissenting and sabotaging the government by taking advantage of the poor through his ‘hustlers’ narrative.

“Ruto swore to serve the people of Kenya, diligently, by assisting the government to prosecute the government agenda but Ruto has deviated, subverted his oath of office to loyally serve the President.”

“Ruto has shamelessly with bare-knuckle called a whole President a tribalist. How can you call your boss a tribalist?” Savula posed.

The leaders called for the immediate resignation of Ruto failure to which he will face the ouster motion.

"We want to tell Kenyans some truth about Ruto. But we are also calling on Ruto to do the right thing–resign–short of which he should be fired,” added Savula.

"In that impeachment motion, we will make the case that because his ambition is in competition with priorities set by the government he serves in, he is a danger to the stability of the nation.”
