Ruto Alleges Plot to Stop Him from Ascending to Power
Deputy President William Ruto says he is aware of a well-calculated scheme to stop him from succeeding President Kenyatta in 2022.
Ruto alleged that his political rivals have ganged up to ensure he does not ascend to power, stating that he is ready to face them.
“They are scheming against me in Nairobi but I am with the people in the grassroots. There’s no problem,” Ruto said while speaking in Nandi County.
While insisting that leadership is not a boardroom affair, he said that only God and the people of Kenya have the power to decide who will be their next president.
“They are saying they will arrange the next government from Nairobi but I am telling them, my friends, the government of 2022 cannot be an arrangement between tribal chiefs. The government will be formed by the people of Kenya. It will be a government that understands the issues facing hustlers,’’ said Ruto.
Ruto further vowed to continue popularizing his message of hustlers across the country and warned his rivals against underestimating him.
“They are asking how I will push this agenda. My response to them is I made Raila Odinga Prime Minister and I made my friend Uhuru Kenyatta President. I know what I am doing,” added Ruto.
On the looming national referendum, the deputy president said Kenyans should be allowed to make independent choices without being coerced.
He also stated that he will not be leading the ‘No’ campaign in the push to amend the 2010 Constitution through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
