Kenyan Judge Warns Widows to Keep Away from Man Named Vincent Kiriago Mogambi

John Wanjohi Mar 05, 2021

A judge at a court in Eldoret has warned widows in the area to keep away from a man named Vincent Kiriago Mogambi.

This is after it emerged that the suspect has been preying on bereaved wives and deceiving them into surrendering their wealth to him.

Judge Boaz. N. Olao urged widows living in Eldoret to avoid Mogambi after he was sued by a woman identified as Elizabeth Afandi Kayiya, who accused the man of registering her property under his name.

Elizabeth told the court that after her husband passed away, Mogambi befriended her and they began cohabiting, but the man later defrauded her.

Mogambi, who is alleged to have moved from Webuye to Eldoret, did not appear in court to defend the petition against him.

In his ruling, the judge said: “What widows need most at their time of distress is a helper who can shower them with love and offer support not deceitful and thieving men whose main goal is to strike at vulnerable widows.”

Judge Boaz also quoted some bible verses that warn against taking advantage of widows, including Exodus 22:22-24 and Mark 12:40.

Mark 12:40 states: “They take advantage of widows and rob them of their homes, and then make a show of saying long prayers.”

The judgment was made on March 3rd, 2021.
