Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi of ANC, Moses Wetang’ula of Fork-Kenya, and Kanu’s Gideon Moi have formed a new political alliance ahead of next year’s general elections.

The four party leaders unveiled the outfit dubbed ‘One Kenya Alliance’ during a media briefing at a Nairobi hotel on Thursday.

They said the coalition aims at uniting Kenyans and delivering a transformative agenda, terming the country’s current politics as toxic and divisive.

“Today, we mark the beginning of a journey with a clear purpose to unite this country through a transformative agenda that seeks to create equal opportunities for all Kenyans. This alliance is a breath of fresh air from the toxic and divisive politics this country has witnessed in the recent past,” said Senator Wetang’ula.

On his part, Mudavadi, said “We want Kenyans to have hope. During these hard economic times, it is important that we rally together as Kenyans so that going into the future, we can work hand in hand collectively to deal with the challenges that we face.”

He added: “It is for this reason that we are taking these initial steps to bring the country together under the umbrella of ‘One Kenya Alliance’ so that we can have a common objective. We stand here to tell Kenyans that if you thought there was no alternative, please start putting in your minds that there is an alternative of hope in this country.”

The four leaders further expressed their support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), a brainchild of President Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“Going forward, BBI is the agenda that this alliance would wish to keenly focus on by persuading Kenyans to fully support in order to unite our country and ensure that everyone benefits from the dividends of Devolution,” they added.
