Dutch National Found Dead in Mombasa Apartment, Girlfriend Strapped in Car
Police in Mombasa have opened an investigation into the death of a 55-year-old Dutch national.
Herman Rouwenhorst was found dead in an apartment in Mombasa’s Shanzu area on Friday.
The body was discovered after police officers responded to a distress call of a woman near Serena Beach Hotel, according to reports.
Officers from Bamburi police station found the woman identified as Riziki Cherono tied on her car’s steering wheel.
“She alleged that she was driven in her car to the said place from their apartment,” a police report filed at Bamburi police station under OB 6/4/6/2021 reads.
Officers untied her and accompanied her to the apartment named Rocco, where they found Rouwenhorst’s body lying on their bed, with his hands and legs tied using a rope, and mouth gagged.
“Also they established that a night guard by the Evans bleeding and unconscious,” the report adds.
The body of Rouwenhorst was taken to Pandya Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem examination to establish the cause of his death.
Reports indicate Cherono was in a relationship with the deceased and they lived together in the apartment.
