Kiambu Woman Rep. Gathoni wa Muchomba Ditches Uhuru for Ruto

Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba has defected to Deputy President William Ruto’s camp.

Wa Muchomba met Ruto at his Karen residence on Wednesday where she declared her support for the deputy president.

“I am aligning myself with the DP [deputy president] because that is where my people want me to be,” Wa Muchomba said.

The former radio presenter has been one of the fiercest supporters of President Kenyatta, the handshake, and the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

She was also a key member of the ‘Kieleweke’ faction of the Jubilee Party, which supports President Kenyatta.

“Warmest welcome to the hustler nation Kiambu Woman MP Gathoni Wamuchomba,” nominated Senator Millicent Omanga, a close ally of Ruto, tweeted.

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, a Kieleweke pointsman, termed Wa Muchomba’s defection as a big blow.

“I see that Hon Gathoni Wamuchomba has left our team and will now be playing for William Ruto’s brigade. Knowing her well I am sure that she has thought this through and she believes she’s doing the right thing,” said Wambugu.

“I don’t agree with her, but this doesn’t change the respect I have for her. I wish her well as we now engage from across each other, politically.”
