Nakuru-based Policeman Found Murdered Inside His Car at Police Quarters' Parking Bay
Police in Nakuru are in hot pursuit of a policewoman suspected to have killed her colleague in cold blood.
28-year-old Constable John Obweno, attached to Nakuru Central police station, was found murdered inside his car at Kasarani police quarters’ parking on Monday, with blood oozing from his ears and nose.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru Town East sub-county police commander Phanton Analo said Obweno’s body was laid back on the driver’s seat and had a gunshot wound on the head.
Nakuru Town East deputy county commissioner Joseph Tonui said a spent cartridge was found at the scene of the crime and the car engine was still running.
“The assailants broke the driver’s window with a metal bar to access the officer,” he said.
Police said the deceased was last seen with his girlfriend Corporal Caroline Kangogo, who has since gone missing and her phone switched off. The suspect, who was described as armed and dangerous, is said to have fled with the deceased’s Ceska pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.
“The investigators are looking for the girlfriend and have also picked up Obweno’s neighbor for questioning,” said Tonui.
Obweno’s body was moved to Nakuru county mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
