Governor Charity Ngilu Hospitalized After Contracting COVID-19
Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu has been hospitalized after contracting coronavirus.
News about her admission to the hospital was announced by her Machakos counterpart Dr. Alfred Mutua.
Mutua, who spoke during a function in Gatanga, Murang’a County on Tuesday, said Ngilu is being treated at a Nairobi hospital.
"Let us be careful. COVID-19 is real and can get anyone," Mutua said.
Reports indicate Ngilu has been in isolation at the Nairobi Hospital since Sunday. Ngilu received her first shot of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in March this year.
Kenya has so far recorded a total of 197,959 COVID-19 positive cases from 2,097,101 samples. 3,872 people have died from the disease since March last year.
