Lamu Governor Rescues Bungoma Girl Who Repeated Class 8 After Scoring 401 Marks

A Bungoma girl who was forced to repeat Class 8 despite scoring 401 marks in the 2020 KCPE examination is set to join Form One.

This comes after Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha came to her rescue and paid the full Sh53,000 required for her admission to Moi Girls’ High School, Eldoret.

Daina Nyokabi had rejoined Bungoma D.E.B. Primary School on Wednesday after her parents failed to raise her Form One school fees.

Her mother Priscilla Nyanchera said her daughter had been selected to benefit from the Bungoma County scholarship program but her name was mysteriously expunged from the list.

“I have been selling groceries for a very long time and educating my daughter hoping that in the future she will be able to assist me,” Nyanchera said.

Nyokabi was among the top performers in last year’s KCPE at Bungoma D.E.B. primary school.

The teenager will now join Moi Girls’ High School next week, with her mother thanking Governor Twaha for his generosity.

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga also offered to help the young girl.
