Kiambu Man Kills Wife By Stabbing Her 17 Times

Police in Juja, Kiambu County are detaining a 37-year-old man over the gruesome murder of his estranged wife.

Evans Kamau is accused of killing his wife Esther Njigi Nyaga, 35, by stabbing her multiple times with a kitchen knife.

Police say the deceased was stabbed 17 times on August 8th and died while being rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital. The incident happened at Everest Estate in Juja where Esther was living with her three children. 

The suspect is said to have accessed Esther's house from the rear door on Sunday night before disconnecting power from the main switch. He then locked Esther in her bedroom where he committed the heinous act before escaping from the crime scene. 

The couple’s eldest daughter aged 11 years sought help from a neighbor, who immediately rushed Esther to the hospital but she died of stab wounds on the way.

Kamau and Esther two got married in a church wedding in 2010 but separated in 2019 due to domestic squabbles. They had three children together.

The suspect is being held at Juja police station as investigations continue, according to Juja Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) Richard Mwaura.
