I Have Not Spoken to President Kenyatta for Three Years, MP Moses Kuria Says

John Wanjohi Sep 23, 2021

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has opened up about his relationship with President Kenyatta.

Speaking during an interview on a local station on Thursday, Kuria disclosed that he last spoke to the president three years ago.

The outspoken MP pointed out that his relationship with the President collapsed due to what he termed as ideological differences.

Kuria, however, stated that he counts himself lucky since many leaders who were elected under the Jubilee Party have never had a chance to speak with President Kenyatta.

“It is still a privilege that I spoke to the president three years ago. We have people who have never had a word with him,” Kuria said.

Kuria, who represents Uhuru’s home constituency, was among the fiercest campaigners of President Kenyatta during the 2013 and 2017 general elections.

He strongly opposed the handshake and the unity pact between Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, which led to the birth of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Kuria sided with Deputy President William Ruto, who felt sidelined following the March 9th, 2018 handshake between the two leaders.

“The BBI is dead like a dodo. That was bound to happen given the kiburi and hubris with which it was pushed down our throats,” Kuria said after the courts declared the BBI unconstitutional.
