Former IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba Appointed Director-General of Communications Authority of Kenya
Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba has landed a government job.
Chiloba was on Tuesday appointed as the director-general of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).
The authority’s board chairman Kembi Gitura said the appointment of Chiloba takes effect immediately. Chiloba, who replaces former director-general Francis Wangusi, will serve in the position for a renewable term of four years.
“The appointment follows a competitive recruitment process to fill the position left vacant with the retirement of the former Director-General, Francis Wangusi,” Gitura said in a statement.
“The Board wishes to thank Mrs. Mercy Wanjau, MBS who has been acting in the position of Director-General of the Authority.”
Chiloba was fired from IEBC in 2018, months after Chairman Wafula Chebukati suspended him over procurement issues at the commission. IEBC said he was sacked for failing to appear before the commission’s disciplinary committee to answer audit queries.
Chiloba is a policy consultant and Principle Partner with Chimp and Kemp consultancy and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
He holds an undergraduate degree in law from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Arts degree from Central European University in Hungary, and a Master of Science degree in Program Management from the University of Oxford in the UK.
Chiloba also studied a blockchain strategy program at Said Business School at the University of Oxford. He holds further training in Corporate Governance, Projects Management, Collaborative Leadership, and Monitoring and Evaluation.
