Ugandan National Arrested over Murder of 25-Year-Old Kenyan Woman
A Ugandan national has been arrested over the murder of a Kenyan woman in Nyali, Mombasa.
Suleiman Mayanja was smoked out from his hideout in Nyali by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday evening. He was cornered at Nyali Cinemax, where he was hiding after committing the crime on Monday morning.
DCI said the suspect, who entered Kenya through the border point in Busia on September 1st, had sent a cab driver to collect his belongings from a room he had booked at Sunny Side apartments on September 30th.
The driver was arrested by detectives who lay in wait and upon interrogation, he led them to the suspect’s hideout.
Mayanja and the deceased were not well known to each other, according to a police report.
“They had met a day before at a popular joint, where they made merry and imbibed a few drinks,” read the report.
The two met for the second time on Monday before the deceased, a 25-year-old Kenyan woman, joined Mayanja in his apartment where she, unfortunately, met her demise.
The suspect is said to have thrown the woman off the balcony of the apartment’s bedroom following an altercation at around 3:00 am on Monday.
The deceased’s half-dressed body was discovered by a guard, who was conducting a routine patrol at the apartment.
Mayanja is set to be arraigned in court to face murder charges.
