Anne Waiguru Says Marriage to Lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo is Sweet
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru says marrying lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo was the best thing that happened in her life.
Speaking during an interview on NTV, Waiguru said she is enjoying every bit of her marriage to the attorney.
“Marriage is sweet. If you compare now and when I got married, I have gained weight. It means I am happy,” Waiguru said.
The first-time governor further indicated that her husband is a laid-back person, hence the reason why they are rarely seen together in public since their marriage.
"He does his work as the first gentleman [of the county]. Like this weekend, first spouses had a health program. They were launching the cancer month, he was a chief guest and other first ladies were there. He helps the County in his own way but he is not a politician, so he is not so vocal,” said Waiguru, 50.
The two got engaged at an invite-only party held at Lord Erroll Hotel in Nairobi in February 2019 after dating for about 10 years.
They are said to have met in 2009 at Likoni Ferry in Mombasa and became friends before their relationship turned romantic.
Waiguru and Kamotho, both divorcees, exchanged marriage vows in a lavish Kikuyu traditional ceremony in July 2019. Waiguru, a mother of three boys, was previously married to Tony Njuguna.
