Matiang’i Endorses Raila's 2022 Presidential Bid

Three Cabinet Secretaries led by Fred Matiang’i have endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential bid.

Matiang’i and his counterparts Mutahi Kagwe (Health) and Eugene Wamalwa (Defense) said Odinga is the most suitable candidate to safeguard and continue President Kenyatta’s development agenda.

They stated that the March 2018 handshake between Kenyatta and Odinga brought stability, making it easy to carry out government functions.

The leaders spoke on Friday during a fundraiser at Mwongori High School in Nyamira County, where Matiang’i played host.

“Kama ni hii mambo ya siasa, when my president takes a position, I queue behind my president,” said CS Matiang’i.

He added: “The majority of our people are where the president and Raila are.”

On his part, CS Kagwe noted that “anytime you want this nation to move and prosper, Mt. Kenya and Nyanza must be together.”

“This cooperation is what we expect to see us through so that the projects that are currently going on will not stop when the president stops, kwa sababu hiyo uhusiano ndio itaendelea mbele,” said Kagwe.

CS Wamalwa said, “We’re appointed to assist the president…so akisema handshake yake na Raila italeta amani, ilete maendeleo, sisi kama watu wake wa mkono tunaunga.”
