If Uhuru was Ruto's Deputy, He Would be Facing Detention, Exile or Death, Senator Olekina Says

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has hailed President Kenyatta for being patient, calm and tolerant.

Through Twitter on Saturday, Olekina noted that the president has remained restrained despite insults and disrespect from Deputy President William Ruto and his allies.

Olekina argued that things would be different if Uhuru and Ruto changed roles today, saying he would be facing “exile, detention or death.”

“Mr. President Uhuru you are such a gentleman, if roles were to be reversed today, detention, exile or death would be common place and a “DP Kenyatta” would have to pick one of the three!” Olekina wrote.

The relationship between Kenyatta and Ruto has been strained since the handshake between the president and ODM leader Raila Odinga in March 2018.

Ruto and his allies have often accused Uhuru of betraying the deputy president by reneging on his promise to back his presidential bid in 2022.

During his recent tour of the coast region, Ruto described Kenyatta and Odinga as conmen, saying they have ganged up to block his quest for the presidency.
